RNC Chairman candidate Saltzman's Christmas CD / Barack the Magic Negro

I am amazed at the stupidity of politicians sometimes. Yes, I know they are mostly stupid, but the degree to which they are stupid sometimes still amazes me.

This song, Barack the Magic Negro, was included on a CD sent by RNC chairman candidate, Tennessee Republican Chip Saltsman, to members of the RNC. What a boob!

I must admit, the song is very funny and has been out there for a while, but its inclusion on a Christmas CD mailed to RNC members by a candidate for RNC Chairman is ludicrous.

(CNN) -- A candidate for the Republican National Committee chairmanship
said Friday the CD he sent committee members for Christmas -- which
included a song titled "Barack the Magic Negro" -- was clearly intended
as a joke.

"I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,"
Tennessee Republican Chip Saltsman told CNN. "I think RNC members
understand that."

The song, set to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon," was first played
on conservative political commentator Rush Limbaugh's radio show in 2007.

Its title was drawn from a Los Angeles Times column that suggested
President-elect Barack Obama appealed to those who feel guilty about the
nation's history of mistreatment of African-Americans. Saltsman said the
song, penned by his longtime friend Paul Shanklin, should be easily
recognized as satire directed at the Times.

The CD sent to RNC members, first reported by The Hill on Friday, is
titled "We Hate the USA" and also includes songs referencing former
presidential candidate John Edwards and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, among
other targets.

According to The Hill, other song titles, some of which were in bold
font, were: "John Edwards' Poverty Tour," "Wright place, wrong pastor,"
"Love Client #9," "Ivory and Ebony" and "The Star Spanglish Banner."

Saltsman was national campaign manager for former Arkansas Gov. Mike
Huckabee's presidential bid in 2007 and 2008. Before that, he held a
variety of posts, including a number of positions under former Sen. Bill
Frist of Tennessee.

This is why we absolutely need the death penalty for corruption in office! These types of politicians should be considered traitors against the people and tried as such! 

Perhaps when they hang in public will they then serve as examples to others of what not to be!

In the article, the author sets forth the opinion the nuclear destruction of Mecca (during the Hajj no less) would have a similar effect the destruction of Herod's Temple in Jerusalem in 70 C.E.

 had on the radical Jews of Judea. It calmed them and made them rethink their relationship to their god and to the world. Rabbinical Judaism was the result. The Romans made no attempt to stamp out the Jews - although many died. The Roman's desired to destroy the nature of the Jewish religion, and at that they succeeded.  I would argue the world is a far better place as a result. Think of how many Jews lived because they were no longer stoned to death for working on the Sabbath, or stoned for adultery. After the destruction of the Temple and its corrupt priesthood, the Rabinate brought peace, understanding, and most importantly compassion to a religion that had known very little of any of these. Would this work with radical Islam? 

What would radical Muslims do if they could not look forward to making their pilgrimage to Mecca and walking counter-clockwise around the Kaaba Stone chanting "Here I am Lord, here I am." Would they, too, have to rethink their place in the world and become more understanding of others. Would they follow in the footsteps of their cousins, the Jews, and choose to follow the intent of the law and not merely the letter of the law? Would they learn compassion?

Surely this is a radical approach, but it offers fodder for thought.

A ridiculous state court order in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA, seizing 141 domain names because they were gambling sites that were illegal in Kentucky was overturned on appeal.

None of the domains were registered in Kentucky; however, the lower court thought that did not matter because the sites could be reached from Kentucky. Hence, the very dumb judge considered them to be Kentucky businesses that he could regulate! Hmm... Does that mean if I can call a New York company from my phone in Rhode Island, that the state of Rhode Island has jurisdiction over that New York company? What makes this even worse is the fact it was the Commonwealth of Kentucky government that made this argument to the judge!

The Commonwealth did not want people in its jurisdiction to play poker over the Internet for money, so it sought to seize the domains of the gambling companies anywhere in the world.  To grant a government that power is too great a risk, but judge Wingate did not listen to reason.

The obviously uneducated and demagogue-like judge acceded to the Commonwealth's over-reach and thus applied local law to out of state enterprises (some out of the country enterprises). In doing so, the court essentially tried to assert authority over the entire world! (Can you imagine a world ruled by Kentucky? The horror!)

If allowed to stand, this ruling would be very dangerous to freedom because it would mean any repressive regime in the world could assert its authority over any business in the world if a person living in the jurisdiction of that repressive regime could access the business over the Internet. Only a moron would have thought this just. Thank the gods of both heaven and hell and everywhere in between the appellate court listened to reason. 

The Electronic Frontier Foundation and the ACLU both filed amicus briefs in the matter against the lower court ruling.

Ego, Oh Bitter Ego

I wrote this in reference to all the many writings of the fringe authors who keep citing each other as authoritative sources. I find it amusing that crazy writings cite other crazy writings and somehow gain acceptance just because they have many citations! Just because the nuts read each other and cite each other as references does not make their nutty assertions correct! Of course, no one could ever convince them such is so because their egos far outweigh the crap they spew!

It is their egos that rule them all. 

Nutfilled Bliss

They cite each other in gobbledy goop,

But n’er has one a real good scoop.

A cites B, and B cites C, then C cites D, who then cites E,

So E cites F, and F cites G, then G cites H, and H cites I,

And who is I, but none but A!

Then “THEY” proclaim “ This is what we say!”

 

They think it’s truth,

But none have sooth.

So in a circle, does the reference go,

For there within the lie to sow.

So what is what and who is who?

You’ll never know, Alas, Boo-Hoo!

THE WINDWARD WALK

I wrote this poem in 1993, in one sitting without edits. It flowed through me from elsewhere.

The Windward Walk

When e’re I walk this walk, the windward walk,
My heart takes solace from the wrath, the jealous talk.
These beings who shall seek for to destroy
That which they find they do not know,
These creatures, in their hearts find little joy,
As full they reap what past these fools did sow.

My yearning, uncontrolled, is for the truth
Which seeps through time until the end.
Yet n’er can I convey this sooth,
For thought, through words, God does not send.

The peacefulness of bliss,
For some a state unknown,
Is exit through remiss,
From deeds the winds have blown.

Yet I know deep, a knowledge from within,
Through encounter with the Blindness Light,
From out a place that holds no space for sin,
Through meditation in the dark of night.
The force which serves so tight to bind,
Methinks, whither we shall roam,
Is evermore within a sight of mind
Throughout a journey which just brings us home.
