Iran blames U.S. for attacks, including bombing that slays 23
30 May 2009, TEHRAN-Pre-election tensions rose in Iran's religiously and ethnically mixed southeast Friday as gunmen opened fire on the president's campaign office and a radical group claimed responsibility for killing up to 23 people in the bombing of a mosque the previous night. Iranian authorities blamed Washington for the violence.
"The hands of America and Israel were undoubtedly involved in this incident. Although Wahhabis and the infidel and evil Salafists were an accomplice to the crime, they were being led from somewhere else," prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami told supporters in Tehran. The group Jundollah, which is linked to al-Qaida and draws support from Iran's ethnic Baluch minority, earlier claimed responsibility for the bombing at the mosque. Iranian authorities frequently claim the U.S. backs Jundollah."

US funds terror groups to sow chaos in Iran
06 January 2009-America is secretly funding militant ethnic separatist groups in Iran in an attempt to pile pressure on the Islamic regime to give up its nuclear programme. CIA officials are understood to be helping opposition militias among the numerous ethnic minority groups clustered in Iran's border regions. Funding for their separatist causes comes directly from the CIA's classified budget but is now "no great secret", according to one former high-ranking CIA official in Washington. His claims were backed by Fred Burton, a former US state department counter-terrorism agents who said: "The latest attacks inside Iran fall in line with US efforts to supply and train Iran's ethnic minorities to destabilise the Iranian regime."
A row has also broken out in Washington over whether to "unleash" the military wing of the Mujahedeen-e Khalq (MEK), and Iraq-based Iranian opposition group with a long and bloody history of armed opposition to the Iranian regime. The group is currently listed by the US state department as a terrorist organisation, but Mr. Pike said: "A faction in the Defence Department wants to unleash them."
